HUGS is an organization that helps distribute selendang slings to women in need in countries all over the world. A selendang is a traditional Indonesian baby carrier -- a large rectangle of beautifully patterned fabric that is tied similar to a rebozo. The selendangs also make lightweight, supportive ring slings!

The selendangs are 100% cotton, in a cool, thin weave that has somewhat less give than many of my other fabrics. They are supportive, but need to be worn carefully to minimize pressure points during long wearing periods. They are gorgeous and lovely in hot, humid weather, but may not be the best choice for a new sling user because of the increased potential for pressure points.

HUGS has set up a business model such that purchases of their selendangs fund the donation of more selendangs to mothers in distress. I have also made an additional $5 donation for each of the selendangs I bought from HUGS.

HUGS ringslings from SBP are sewn with my signature pleats, with size medium SlingRings. I am also offering them as a no-sew sling kit, which includes the selendang (uncut and unsewn), a pair of appropriately-sized SlingRings, and my no-sew sling directions. (For additional wearing directions, I would highly recommend checking out the HUGS website for new selendang designs and instructional materials on using a selendang in the traditional manner.) If you purchase the no-sew kit, the rings will not be sewn in -- please make sure you understand that when you order :) Please select "leave as-is" for the size if you would like the no-sew kit.

All selendangs have been prewashed and machine dried, so I would not expect further shrinkage. However, I would recommend washing with like colors in order to minimize the possibility of dye transfer, as they may still bleed for a couple of washes.

No points are required to order, but please allow 2-4 business days before they are shipped after ordering because of that (I will fit them into my sewing time as time allows).
