I've had a number of requests for double-layer dupioni slings -- in part, I'm sure, due to the popularity of the drop-dead gorgeous Sakura Bloom slings. I would recommend them without hesitation, particularly for larger toddlers and preschoolers -- their gathered shoulder is very comfortable -- and their unique stripes and excellent construction all get very high marks. I will not copy their stripes, nor do a gathered shoulder on slings I make to sell; I have done double-layer dupioni slings in the past (some up to 3 years ago), so I don't feel that merely doing a double-layer is a copy, but there are aspects of the SB construction that are unique to them and which I will not duplicate. If you want the SB look, please buy a SB :) If, on the other hand, you like the pleated shoulder and would like a more simple, reversible double-layer silk sling, then I'm here for you.

You may choose any two of the colors I have listed below, or if you prefer different combinations, you may wish to look for silk on your own (I recommend www.fabric.com for silk), and make it a custom sling instead. Large aluminum SlingRings will be standard, as it is difficult to adjust a double-layer silk through medium rings.

About dupioni silk: Dupioni silk differs from silk shantung in its weave: dupioni is woven from a doubled silk cocoon, which leads to more "slubs" and variations in the texture, but it has a more natural look to it. It does not have a smooth texture (because of the slubs) and most of the colors I have are crossdyed (threads going across the sling are a different color from those going along it) -- this gives most of the colors an iridescent quality.

Washing tips: I recommend spot-cleaning unless you really need to wash the whole sling, in which case dry cleaning is recommended. If machine washed, it will shrink about 10% during washing; the sling will be sized to include shrinkage if you select "machine washing" below, but not if you select "hand washing only". Hang to dry, as machine drying will adversely effect the fabric. This link has more information about washing silk.

Please indicate which color you would prefer to be the primary body color -- these slings are reversible, but one side will look just slightly less finished at the shoulder due to the pleating method used (it will have 7 pleats at the rings sewn to 5 where the fabric is folded over, and in my view, the opposite side looks just a bit nicer than that side).
