Comments:Thank you for the pattern for the pouch sling. My daughter and I both love our sling and get compliments on it where ever we go!

A modification I made is to add some leg holes now that my daughter is bigger. She rides facing me with the leg holes cut through the inner layer so she straddles my hip. I find it more comfortable for both of us.

When people ask me about my sling I refer them to your site and let them know how easy it is to make yourself.

Thanks!

Comments:I love your patterns. I wish I'd seen these 8 years ago when I had my first child! I've been wanting a pillow for years. Thanks so much!

If you or your readers are interested, I made blankets for my kids using flece remnants from wal-mart. I take 1 patterned piece, and 2-6 (depending on bed size) solid ones for the blanket. The center one is the pattern, then I serge the rest on alternating sides. 3 panels works great for covering an infant carrier, 7 is fine for a twin bed. My 2 year old still uses the 3 panel one for her crib. I'm going to add another 2 panels in the next year or so, because she's restless :)

I'm sure it will work with a regular machine, but I wanted to use the serger for a bit more artistic look, similar to the no-sew quilt/blankets wal-mart has on sale now. Total cost for my little blanket was around $10 USD around the end of winter.

Comments:Thanks for your grammar page! It's nice to know I'm not alone in my frustration with all the language manglers out there.

We have street signs inside the building at my work (IBM for God's sake) and I thought you'd get a kick out of this one, "Avenue of the America's". Everyone is so apostrophe-happy!

There's another grammar faux pas that drives me bonkers and I'm surprised no one mentioned it on your page. I think it has become so commonplace that no one notices it any more. Even our president and most members of the media don't correct themselves (in speech, anyway).

A human being is a WHO, an object is a THAT (or which).

I can't stand it when someone says, "She is the kind of person that hates bad grammar".

Keep up the good work!

Comments:Hi!
I've been trying your "No-Sew Ring Sling" now for a while and I love it! The fact that I can take a short wrap and use as a ring sling is wonderful. Today I even took a little longer wrap and made a X-ring sling with the no-sew method. And it worked very well. If you want to see a picture you can see one here: http://www.zmurfan.hem.net/fotoalbum/Sjalbilder/DSC02660?full=1

Thanks for giving me the idea with the no-sew method!

I used your directions, with some modifications, to make a sling. I am wondering if you would like some kind of compensation for the use of your pattern?

Comments:I was on the web looking for baby information. It has been a long time since I became a Mom and I have seen new and handy things on the market. My daughter, who is having her first child, asked me if I could make some of things for her. So I went hunting at stores first to see what they were, and found the prices outrageous. This really made me look harder and I decided to try my hand at making them. But I discovered that that I could not find any patterns at the Fabric stores where I shop. I went on line and I found your site.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and say that I appreciated the time it took you to come up with these things. I used cloth for my kids and have told them over and over again that it is the best way to go. She listened and so did I. A sling and a pillow for nursing, what a helpful and wonderful idea.
Thank you again.

Comments:I can't believe that you showered with "a man" to whom you were not married and expected to not be punished. Shame on you and shame on you now for spreading this to the current generation in college! Can you say INAPPROPRIATE?

Why yes, I can say inappropriate. However, the year was 1995, not 1950 (or even 1850, which I just mistyped), and frankly, your attitude is more what I would expect from 1750. Please. Your moral standards are no longer legally enforcable. For those of us who feel that sensuality is not a crime, it's stupid to have any institution, including a college, try to enforce outdated notions of propriety. If you don't want your children to shower/sleep with/fall in love with/kiss/whatever... then teach them your morality and, more importantly, impress upon them *why* you feel that way. It's not the state's job to do that -- it's yours. And if any impressionable youths are reading my homepage, I'd ask them to think about their actions. I showered with "a man" with whom I was (and am!) deeply in love. I don't see a crime in that. I was tempted to just delete your comment, but decided to plunge in and reply, despite the obnoxious and stupid nature of your comment.

I've been trying to make my own sling for a few months now and thanks to your website I'm going to make my own tonight. I'll sign your guestbook again later to let you know how it went. Very impressive ~ as a seamstress myself, I think your use of pleats is not only better but much prettier than conventional sling construction. Thanks so much for making all of your patterns available online ~ WAHOO! Now I'm going to sit in front of the ol' sewing machine for a few hours and whip up some goodies!

Comments:My daughter gave me your site address. I have been looking for rings to make the slings for myself to use with my grandchildren. She got herself a maya wrap when her first baby was born and I thought it was great. I wish I had one when my children were born. It would have have been a God send for my son with colic. I wanted to make some wraps for my other children when their babies were born but I couldn't find good directions or especially sturdy rings. I couldn't afford to pay the price to purchace maya wraps for them all. So thank you very much. God bless uou and your business.

Comments:OH! Thank you so much for your sling instructions........ I've made 3 tube slings now in as many days. It is the perfect project to squeeze in while my kiddos nap. Very rewarding too... the first one I made I wore that same day for a visit with my girls to the local swimming hole. I and a very happy chunky 10-m0-old stuffed in the sling waded in water for 2 hours... her sister is 3 and rambunctious and the sling freed up my hands to better keep ahold of this squirming, slippery toddler too. Again, thanks!

Comments:I just wanted to know if you have seen an ajustable pouch sling. I made the one from your site yesterday, but it won't fit my 2 yr old...only my 6 month old. I would be interested to know how I can make one that has an invisable way of adjusting...I don't like the rings or extra fabric hanging.

milk mamma sells them, but i don't want to have to buy one. The pictures don't show the inside of it either.

thanks for all the great things you have made available on your site.

I'm glad you've found the patterns and ideas helpful :) I don't know how the Mamma's Milk pouch works, and to be honest, I wouldn't add the directions here even if I did. That was Jude's idea, and I'm sure it took her a lot of effort to come up with it -- it's not mine to copy and post. I bet that if you posted on the For Sale or Trade board at http://www.thebabywearer.com/ or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BabywearingSWAP/ with "ISO invisibly adjustable pouch" someone would have one cheaper you could buy. Otherwise, I would recommend doing some brainstorming of your own to see what you can come up with -- who knows, you might invent something great!

Comments:I like the idea for converting a regular bra into a nursing bra. I found this site because I wanted to make some fitted sheets that fit like a pillowcase over the mattress. I mostly agree with the philosophy of some of your links, such as babylove, but they seem a little too anti-convience/conventional, almost cultish. I want to diaper my soon-to-be-born son in cloth diapers, however, I would never wear/use homemade menstrual products (too out there I think).

I can't seem to find a link to anyplace called "babylove" -- are you sure it's my site you're thinking of? I am all about convenience myself; that's why I use a sling and co-sleep :) And the homemade pads are more about comfort than "cultism" -- I hate the way disposable ones feel on my girly bits, so I use cloth. However, I use disposable diapers on my kids, so go figure :)

Comments:Found the site looking for toddler crib sheet instructions. The ones on the market that are supposed to stay on the bed used elastic (on the top sheet and quilt) which I thought to be a little, well, undesirable. I hadn't thought of using old sheets underneath in a pillow case style. While that is a bit excessive in terms of material, being a sewer, I naturally have tons of extra material hanging around. Which is why I am going to make the sheets instead of buying them for minimun $30/set. Thanks for the idea. I enjoyed the rest of your site, particularly since I have made my own ring slings and have been interested in making my own Fuzzibunz-style diapers (I have already been using Fuzzibunz for a while now, but have the style with the leg casings which wick--how annoying!!) I also happen to be from NH--born and raised there-- but my husband and I live in Chicago now. We have two children, ages 20 months and 6 months.
