Comments:Dear Reverend,

Thank you for the grammar page. The "its" section has helped me. I will endeavor to remember when my fiddle is "lying" down a tune. Give some sympathy to American colloquialism, please!

Best regards,

Comments:Love the grammar page - especially the could've/should've/would've. Thank you!
Us Southerners are partial to contractions and it just kills me whenever I read drivel such as, "could of". You you be kind enough to add this lovely ol' redneck triple contraction: I'd've (I would have)? (I'd've clicked that link if Rufus hadn't hit my hand.)

Oh, and thanks for the baby sewing instructions. I've been looking for a pattern of the Japanese carrier for quite awhile. You rock!

Comments:Just wanted to drop you a note of thanks. I made a sling in the Maya wrap fashion and, as nice as it was for my first attempt, I didn't like the way it looked where it fed thru the rings. I then saw your unique way of pleating the fabric, tried it, and LOVE it! Now I just can't wait to try the sling out (my "baby" is 4 1/2 YO and the new one isn't due till January).

Thank you so much!

Comments: I really enjoyed reading your life story. It is refreshing to read about someone that is so open about being an atheist and why. I am rasing my son and daughter similarly to how your parents raised you. I don't believe in indoctrination or whatever any religion wants to call what they do. I was raised very differently, and I always felt that it was wrong. The prayers, rituals, and the preaching never sounded like they were anything more than someone's attempt to control others.
By the way,I can't wait to try out your sling pattern. Thanks.

I pasted it on my favourites to search through more later since my time on the net is in small portions (son Kilian is 4 months now). Now, I just had a chance to see more. Wonderfull! Inspiring!

Comments:I got an outdated link, couldn't get to that deleted page, then searched for your site and found it! :)

I love the site, chock full of great things!

I had the same due date (May 24, 2000), but my son Sloan was born the 23rd. Yours is a fine boy, and he has many more words than my son.

A tip for the 'lumpy soup' in your casserole recipe - shake the cans before opening, make like a paint can shaker, the more violent the shaking, the better. Then, the soup actually pours out of the can, should be no lumps for you. Of course, this may be as much or more work than stirring until the lumps go away, but I find it more of a stress-reliever and it gets my heart rate into a good zone, hope that will help someone. :)

I too am among the non-thin... also the non-short... Maternity dresses havn't been a problem as I was a professional costumer for a number of years. I moved to TN in Sept., married, and was preggo by Nov! I have one child already, he'll be nearly 10 when the baby arrives in late Aug. No homepage as of yet, tho you and several others may inspire me to build one soon to sell all these hand dyed dresses my nesty self has been churning out! Thanks Jan! L

Comments:Hi Jan, I followed the link in your signature at the breastfeeding usenet group (just a lurker at this point). I just had to say thank you so much for the sling pattern. My Marie is 7 months old now and I sure wish I'd had the pattern when I was 8 months pregnant and had lots of time on my hands. But I'll fit it in somewhere. We hold her pretty much constantly right now, and have to pass her back and forth once our arm feels like it will fall off. I think it's great that you would put the patterns up even though you're selling them. I enjoyed your site very much. and have spent the better part of the day digging out fabric for Marie's new Boppiesque Pillow. Thanks Jan!.....(Reverend) Lorraine Taylor

Do good, not for what you might get as a result, but because you have the opportunity and capacity, and because you love life.

Comments:Thank you for your website. It is so generous of you to offer so many free patterns...so refreshing to find someone offering something for free in this day and age. I am happy to find another group of people with the attachment parenting philosophy. I get so many inquisitive looks while carrying my bub in the sling. I know of only one other woman who carries her son full-time. Thanks for the opportunity to share.

Comments:Jan... As an atheist, do you believe in ghosts? As a scientist? I wasn't originally going to ask that... curiosity reared when I added my homepage URL ;-)

I just *tried* to read your emails back and forth argueing the existence of God. It wore me out, and I quit. I tried to have one of those conversations with a Christian friend once. I had never been so annoyed in my life. My simple answer is, "I just don't believe, and it can't be argued with me".

How do you have the mental energy to keep up those sorts of conversations?
