Hi, this is Ashley, and I just recenetly read your debate with Eva Marie on evoltuion vs. creation. I would like to talk with you more about why you belive what you do. I am a born again Christian, and I believe in God with all my heart. I'm very interested in why you belive that there is no God. I have many reasons why I belive what I do, and I would like to hear yours. If in any way possible you could write me back that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Weeeelll, most of my reasons are actually outlined in that debate.  Others are in the "forum" pieces (also accessible through the "Philosophy" section of my site).  I appreciate your missionary zeal (I have been there), but am not really interested in another such discussion.  I will never change your mind, and you won't change mine -- lots of people have tried, but there are no concrete reasons *to* believe in a god or gods.  It would take a genuine miracle to make me believe again, and such has not, thus far, been forthcoming :)

For what it's worth, atheism is not so much the belief that there is no god (that would be a positive statement, like "There are no unicorns in this room," which cannot be proven) as a lack of belief in god(s) (a sort of negative statement, like "I have discovered no evidence for the existence of unicorns in this room," which is a statement that can be proven or disprove if evidence is presented.)

Either way, my reasons (and lack thereof) are all in the Philosophy section.  If you have any additional questions after reading further, feel free to email me and I will be happy to clarify.

Warm regards, Jan
